Kings suing Frontier League over dropped team sale
Owners of the defunct Kalamazoo Kings are suing theFrontier League over rejection of a possible sale that led to the eventual demise of the team and removal from the indy circuit. The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, names the Frontier League and commissioner Bill Lee as defendants. The allegation: that a potential sale of the team to Ron Heineman was scuttled by league officials in September 2011 because of issues with the sale. Because of the interference, Team Kalamazoo LLC was removed from the league.
The lawsuit seeks in excess of $25,000 in damages.
Atlanta Braves have tentative deal to buy Hillcats

As many expected: the Atlanta Braves have a conditional deal to buy the Lynchburg Hillcats (High Class A; Carolina League), in anticipation of moving the team to Wilmington, N.C.
The deal is conditional on a new ballpark being built in Wilmington, N.C., as part of a larger waterfront retail/hotel/marina complex. The city voted last night to enter into an exclusive negotiating period for a new ballpark with the Braves and Mandalay Baseball Properties.
Atlanta currently owns and operates teams at the Triple-A (Gwinnett), Double-A (Mississippi), Low Class A (Rome) and rookie (Danville) levels; all that's missing is a High Class A team.
